The duration is 20 days. The consulting might be paid for with a cost of up to USD 8000.

INBAR is executing a nationwide bamboo sector development initiative in Pakistan in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan. As part of this project, INBAR is looking for a consultant to provide technical support for setting up country and user accounts on the Bamboo mobile App for Pakistan; detailed training for selected forest and land use experts in Pakistan in mobile App based resource assessment (INBAR Bamboo Monitoring System); and data collection and analysis handholding.

• Coordinate with INBAR, the Government of Pakistan focal point, and the software service provider to develop and customize nation accounts in accordance with the requirements and functionality of the INBAR mobile APP and online server.

• Provide two days of training to the chosen forest and land use experts using a mobile-based resource assessment APP (INBAR Bamboo Monitoring System) (class and field demonstration-based training).

• Using one of Pakistan's bamboo areas as an inventory site, trainees undertake on-farm bamboo resource inventory under direct supervision from the consultant for four days.

• Provide training and assistance to trainees and online platform managers on synchronization, data analysis, and web platform administration.

• Assist the focus point in data gathering planning.

• Collaborate closely with the Government of Pakistan to prepare a report on the availability of on-farm bamboo resources in Pakistan based on data analysis and interpretation.

• Make brief recommendations for sustainable bamboo resource management and development.

PRIMARY DELIVERABLES:

• An inception report that includes a clearly structured work plan, a calendar of activities, training methodology, and a table of content for the draught report.

• A fully functional mobile APP and web server system for Pakistan has been built.

• Twenty-five specialists received one-week training in app-based bamboo resource evaluation, recording, and interpretation.

• Data on on-farm bamboo resource inventory acquired using the bamboo mobile app.

• Provide feedback on I training, (ii) inventory findings, and (iii) bamboo management recommendations.

REQUIREMENTS:

• MSC or higher in natural resource management, GIS/Remote sensing, forestry, land use, and other relevant subjects.

• Prior experience inventorying forest or ecological resources.

• Training experience in resource inventory utilizing a mobile app. Experience with application-based inventory and knowledge of the INBAR bamboo inventory mobile App will be advantageous.
